Hi! I'm Kristen, gluten-free and vegetarian food blogger over on our sister site MOON and spoon and yum. As a lifetime nature lover and pursuer of herbal wisdom, I wanted to create a place to share plant-powered DIY, guides, recipes, tutorials, plant profiles and more to inspire others to take creative charge of their lives and feel more confident in growing more self-sufficient and creating all that they need to take care of their own health, and that of their family's.
My journey with plants began as a child, perusing my mom's alternative medicine books. Later, as a young adult, I healed myself with plants after enduring many health issues throughout adolescence and my teenage years. In my early 20s, I moved to Arizona and spent a lot of solo time in the wilderness getting to know the local flora, learning to identify and forage a variety of plants. In my late 20s, I spent time traveling through Central and South America, studying many plants on that journey, learning from locals and journaling, writing many plant profiles during that time. Now in my 30s, as a mom, I've used the knowledge I've gained to help family and friends and to nourish and heal my own family. This is a very quick summation of my path, but I hope it helps give a little insight into the inspiration behind this site, which was started very intuitively and spontaneously, with the timing feeling just right. While I do not have any formal training, I hope to inspire others to follow their own plant paths and discover the magic and beauty for themselves!
