Why You'll Love This DIY Toilet Bombs Recipe

    • This DIY recipe is so easy to make and use.
    • You won’t find any harsh chemicals in this recipe, making them non-toxic and eco-friendly.
    • You can customize the scents by using essential oils of your choice instead of citrus blends.
    • It’s great for keeping your toilet clean without any scrubbing!

    Ingredient Notes

Baking Soda: Acts as a natural cleaning agent and deodorizer, helping scrub away dirt and grime in the toilet.

Citric Acid: Creates a fizzing action when combined with baking soda and water.

Castile Soap: Boosts the cleaning power of toilet bombs to get rid of dirt and grime.

Lemon Essential Oil: Acts as an antibacterial agent while giving the toilet bombs a fresh scent.

Orange Essential Oil: Enhances the cleaning power with its antimicrobial properties while adding a sweet scent.

Grapefruit Essential Oil: Helps eliminate germs and bacteria while enhancing the citrus scent.

Water: Acts as the binding agent for the dry ingredients.

How to Make Fizzy Toilet Bombs

    1. In a large bowl, mix baking soda and citric acid until smooth.
    2. Stir in castile soap slowly to avoid fizzing. Add essential oils and mix well for an even scent.
    3. Gradually incorporate water, a few drops at a time, until the texture resembles damp sand and holds its shape when pressed.
    4. Firmly press the mixture into silicone molds or ice cube trays. Allow to dry completely for 12–24 hours, then carefully remove and store in an airtight container.

How To Use Homemade Toilet Cleaning Bombs

Drop one fizzy into the toilet bowl. Let it fizz and dissolve to release its cleaning power and scent, then flush it down.

    Expert Tips

    • Use a spray bottle when gradually adding water to the mixture so it won’t prematurely fizz.
    • Opt for smaller molds so the bombs will fit easily in the toilet.
    • Other great essential oils you can use for making toilet bombs include tea tree, eucalyptus, lavender oil, and peppermint oil.

    Storing DIY Toilet Cleaner

Keep toilet bombs in a sealed, airtight container so they won’t be exposed to moisture, which could lead to premature fizzing. Mason jars, glass jars, or plastic containers will work well.

Place the container in a cool, dry place, away from water sources and direct sunlight. Make sure kids and pets won’t be able to reach them so they can’t be mistaken for candies or toys. Also, add a label or note so they won't be confused with anything else.
