    Rose

Belonging to the Rosaceae family, the rose is one of the most popular flowers in the world.

Roses come in a stunning array of colors and fragrances, which vary based on the variety and growing conditions. Their thorny stems serve as a natural defense against potential predators.

Both fresh and dried roses are commonly used as decorations but also have culinary, skin care, and medicinal uses, too.

I suggest growing and/or sourcing organic and pesticide-free roses for the best results when using dried rose petals for any of the creative ideas below.

    10 Dried Rose Petals Uses

    1. Homemade Skincare

Thanks to their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, dry roses are a great addition to various DIY skincare products like this vanilla rose sugar scrub. It’s ideal for moisturizing and exfoliating the skin!

    2. DIY Bath Projects

Fizzy rose bath bombs make any baths feel more luxurious, soothing, and calming, either for yourself or a loved one. This gift will carry away troubles in no time at all.

    3. Teas

This aphrodisiac tea is a blend of amazingly complementary flavors and is so easy to do! You simply add rose, damiana, ginger, cardamom, rose hips, ashwaganda, hibiscus, saffron, and vanilla to a lidded vessel of your choice and shake it to combine. No need to buy expensive rose water when you can make it at home! You can use it for a lot of things — from soothing skin irritations to adding a rose scent to culinary and beauty products.

    7. Home Decor

You can glue (or Mod Podge!) dried rose petals around plain picture frames to give them a vintage, floral feel, or make homemade floral wreaths by gluing a mixture of petals and rose buds to a foam base. You can even scatter them on top of table runners or centerpieces for romantic vibes.

    8. Edible Garnish

You can sprinkle dried rose petals on top of layered cakes and cupcakes, or use them as edible confetti over donuts, tarts, and muffins. They’ll add color and a delicate, floral taste to baked goods and desserts.

    9. Infused Oil

Making infused oils is an amazing way to enjoy dried roses! Soak them in your preferred carrier oil (like jojoba, olive, or almond) in a mason jar for a few weeks then strain them. You can then use it as a massaging oil, as a moisturizer, or even for cooking.

    10. Rose Potpourri

To make fragrant potpourri, mix the dried roses with a few drops of essential oil and other flowers or herbs and place them in bowls around your home.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What are the most loved dried rose petals?

Among enthusiasts of dried flower crafts and potpourri, Damask Roses (Rosa × damascena) and Centifolia Roses (Rosa × centifolia) often top the favorites list. Both varieties have notably thick petals that hold their shape well once dried, and they offer an intense, lasting fragrance. Their petals typically retain a pleasing blush of color and maintain an aromatic note, even after the drying process.

How long do dried rose petals last?

When stored properly, they can last and maintain their scent and magical properties for up to 3 years.

How do you preserve dried rose petals?

To help maximize their shelf life, keep them in airtight containers away from direct sunlight and humidity to prevent mold growth. You can also add drops of rose essential oil to a cotton ball or tissue and place them in the container with the petals to help keep them fragrant.

What can I do with dried rose stems?

You can use them for arts and crafts, as floral arrangement fillers, or even as natural mulch for your garden.
